Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen?

I was trying to cook dinner this week and it was around the time that Jax starts getting fussy in the evening. It's that rough period between his last nap and when it's time for him to get a bath and go to bed. So I decided to put him in his bumbo and have him help me in the kitchen. I think he was taking more of a "supervisory" role...
My little Iron Chef

Clearly, he seemed to enjoy himself. Ha! I think he much prefers to do the eating....what do you think?!

Jax's 4 Month Update

Dear Jax
I cannot believe you've just turned 4 months! I'm not sure why it seems to be going by so fast, but I know I'm going to blink and you'll be graduating high school!

This past month has been such a joy as you've grown and are starting to develop your own little personality.

You are so much fun and I can't thank God enough for choosing me to be your mommy.

My favorite days are the ones that we spend together, taking little trips to visit friends or staying home and playing in the front yard. Here's what you've been up to this month:

You are 16 pounds 7 ounces (yikes!) and 25 1/2 inches long, which is the 80th percentile for both height and weight.

(here you are at your 4 month check up)

You loved playing with the paper on the exam table and tore it up before Dr. Hoyos came in to see you!
You are wearing a size 2 diaper

Your are now wearing 3-6 month clothes and 6-9 moth pajamas because you are so long!

You are still eating about 4 ounces every 3 hours, although sometimes you take 5 ounces and go 4 hours

We are still adding oatmeal cereal to each feeding to help with your reflux and you are on Zantac which has really helped.

You get about an ounce of diluted prune juice (yuck!) every morning to help keep things regular ;)

(sorry baby boy, but that picture just seemed to fit the comment!)
PS-these pictures are getting a lot more difficult/amusing to take as you get older and more active. I had to include some of these:

You are so happy and easy going, which I'm going to try and start taking advantage of by getting us out of the house!

We've struggled with naps this past month as you are so much more aware of the world around you and can't be bothered to take time out to sleep! You usually take 2 45-minute naps every morning and then another 2-3 short naps in the afternoon. I've tried everything to get you to sleep longer but the truth is you wake up happy and ready to play. So now I leave you in the crib for some "quiet time" after your nap and you do well with that.
You do however love to sleep at night and have been going 11-12 hours. We usually put you down around 8 or 8:30 and you sleep til 7:30 or 8 in the morning (which makes mama and daddy sooo happy!). We can handle you not napping if you sleep that well at night!

This month you've started taking your blankie and you keep it in the crib with you for naps and at bedtime. You love having something to grab on to. Although a lot of nights you put it over your head and I have to sneak into your room and move it!

You like to sleep in the corner of the crib with your arms behind your head like you're relaxing at the beach. It is so cute to see!

We've started putting you in your exersaucer (although we are having to put a little box under your feet and a blanket behind you since you're a little too small for it). You love playing in it and have figured out how to turn yourself around and make the buttons light up and play music.

We do tummy time and you do really well with it, although you havn't rolled over again since you did it last month. Dr. Hoyos says that's cause you're such a big boy! You do like to roll over onto your side when you're on your back and can almost get all the way to your tummy-I'm sure that will happen soon.

You're talking a lot more and are blowing "raspberries" and are laughing out loud. It is so much fun!
You still love being outside and going for walks.
We've had more playdates with Cooper, Maggie, and Paige

and we've also had sweet Bella over to play!

We went and visited daddy at work (you were a hit-everyone loved you) and you got to sit at his desk :)

You also help mommy with her work around the house. Here you are helping fold laundry!

You have been sitting in your bumbo a lot more lately...

And you're almost sitting up on your own!

Your Poppa came to finish the deck outback, and of course, to see you!

I'm pretty sure Sophie the Giraffe has become your new favorite toy

This past month also marked a new milestone. We had to start putting detangler in your hair. That's right. At 3 1/2 months, your hair is so long it gets knots in it at night when you sleep!

I've never seen anything like that on a baby before!
Mommy has worked a lot less these past couple weeks and we've had so much fun staying home and playing together

You are such a good boy and are easy to take out to the mall or the store or to church. You love watching people. You really only cry when you're tired or hungry and those are pretty easy fixes. You love to laugh and your daddy definitely makes you smile! You get so excited when he comes home from work.

Jax, you are our joy and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our family. Each month gets more fun than the last and we couldn't be happier. You are loved and prayed for constantly!
Love,
Mama and Daddy
